Label likely owned by Eddy Pierce (PIER) and James Watson (WATS) out of Louisville, Kentucky.

Almost certainly a re-issue by the REM label owner himself (Robert E. Mooney) of two songs released in 1953 on Kentucky 575, a budget subsidiary label of Rite Records.








Bobby Mooney (and his Automobile Babies) backed his brother Tommy on two 78 rpm issued by the Floto label in 1952/53. ("That's My Baby/Bingo Boogie" and "A Thousand Times Ten Thousand"/Rose Covered Garden"). The unusual name for the backing group was obviously derived from Bob Mooney's 'Automobile Baby' which was released on John Bava's Davis, West Virginia based Cozy label (#317). The Mooneys were then, as it seems, residents of Kenova, West Virginia.

Next Bob Mooney cut the single for Kentucky Records and afterwards participated with Estel Lee in the operation of the Excellent and Arvis recording labels.

In opening the Lexington studio in his own hometown, in 1960, Mooney declared, "I'm going to cut real country music records, whether they sell or not." For years, he sold REM-produced records out of the back of his car. He recorded numerous bluegrass bands from the Southwestern Ohio area.

"Take Up Thy Cross And Follow Me" was first recorded by pioneer of sacred records Homer Rodeheaver and issued on a Blue Amberol cylinder in 1928.

Bo-An is a name more commonly found as the name of the publishing company on the Summit and Royce labels and on few other Kentucky releases.

Bill Russ also recorded "You've Changed Your Mind" and "The Thing For Me To Do" (Summit 116, 1960) and, in 1961, "My Life For You " / " Same Place, Same Girl " on Bill Springer and Bob Hollingsworth's Eunice Records.

"Let It Rock" is a primitive cover of the Chuck Berry tune.

Recently on e-bay. I wasn't able to obtain details from the seller, but despite the poor picture offered, I am pretty confident that this is a Rite pressing. The record is listed in the Rockin' Country Style, also without details, no matrix, no picture, no address.

Almsot certainly a Kentucky label owned by Wm. Stamper himself who released at least two other singles :

There was a single on REM Records credited to Bill Stamper, but it's not him :

Rusty York remembers going to King to record his swampy version of Jimmy Reed’s 1960 blues hit, " Baby What You Want Me To Do ", and a rocked-up version of " Molly Darlin’ ", a Victorian-era ballad writen by Will Hays that became a hit for Eddy Arnold in 1948. Rusty, though, didn’t have the money to put it out, so he took it to Bob Mooney at Rem Records in Lexington, Kentucky. […] Mooney said he had a guy under contract, Bill Stamper, who couldn’t sing very well, and he issued the single under Stamper’s name.
