5.we ate, and ate, and ate.
6. mandarin cranberry candle
8. we warmed up by the fire

thank you so much for all of the sweet anniversary wishes! it means so much to me. :)
lamar and i had such a lovely evening. lamar was so sweet to me by surprising me with flowers and cooking that amazing meal. i made the cheesecake bites which turned out really yummy but not pretty at all. it was more of like cheesecake-sheetcake-that-won't-cut-into-pretty-squares. oh well, the boy liked it and that is all that matters, right? afterward, we snuggled up by the fire and watched the town starring ben affleck. it was really good and suspenseful. have you seen it?

as for this weekend...i'm going to babysit, relax, go to church, and enjoy my last weekend at home.
what are you doing this weekend?

things i love

holiday baking.

1. the famous red velvet cake balls that are requested at every holiday.
2. katie's haystacks. mmmm!
3. red velvet cupcakes with this cream cheese frosting.

i also made bacon wrapped cherries for christmas eve and they were a hit! anything wrapped in bacon is genius.

recipe:
1 lb of bacon [i used maple turkey bacon]
1 tub of candied cherries [you can find them in the baking aisle]
toothpicks

directions: cut bacon into 4 inch strips. fry bacon in a pan until almost done but still very limp.
wrap cherries with bacon and skew them with a toothpick and place on a baking pan.
bake in oven for 10 minutes. let cool for 5 minutes. eat.

what did you bake/cook for the holidays? i would love some new recipes!

Mmmm...

There is something about Fall weather that makes me really want to bake...all of the time. I have always loved pumpkin lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, etc. So I stumbled upon this recipe from smittin kitchen and had to try it out. The recipe is super easy and the muffins turned out to be delicious. My Sunday night bible study group would agree! :)

You can find the recipe here.

f.y.i: I made a few changes to the recipe...
  • I used the whole 15 oz of pumpkin (instead of 1 cup) and it made them extra moist.
  • I topped the muffins with brown sugar and cinnamon instead of the basic cinnamon-sugar mixture.
happy baking!
